International Silly Walks Day 2017
The 6th International Silly Walks Day, an annual event that takes place on 7 January, set a new record this year.
Over two hundred and fifty people joined the march in Brno, Czech Republic, which was organized by Adam Jandora, "Deputy of the Left Leg Department of the Ministry of Silly Walks," and Dan Masek, "Secretary of the Government Committee for the National Silly Walk Integration."
The march in Reykjavik, Iceland was named “The Silly Walk Event of the Year.” Organiser Lísa Og Bjarki managed to convince the City Hall to create official Silly Walk crossing signs and place them on both sides of a pedestrian crossing in the city. Furthemore, the city officials dedicated the day to all those people and organizations that help individuals suffering from mental diseases. The event kicked off with Hrannar Jónsson, Head of the Icelandic Mental Health Alliance, silly walking across the crossing followed by many locals, and the whole event was given the blessing of the President of Iceland.
